Soar Truckee begins the 2008 soaring season with Doug Lent as its new manager. A certified flight instructor and tow pilot, Doug has been flying at Truckee for 16 years. He is also a member of the Silverado Glider Club.Doug has the knowledge and background to help establish STI as one of the finest soaring sites to be found anywhere. He takes the reigns from Joe Silvestri who capably managed Soar Truckee for the last five years and contributed to its outstanding reputation as a world class glider operation.

We welcome pilots of all skill levels, and we are a full service soaring operation. We can meet your needs...Rides, tows, instruction, retrieves, camping, oxygen, tie-downs, flight reviews, area checkouts and more. We have an FAA Designated Examiner on field with whom you can schedule check rides during the season.
We plan to hold soaring and cross-country camps as well as intensive training camps to help you get that badge and/or rating you've been seeking. Most, if not all of our instructors, are SSA Instructors which means they can help you through the SSA badge program as you hone your flying skills.
Sergio Colacevich will be holding TAGARS (don't worry about the acronym, these things are just plain fun) "parade" contests in August and September.
Don't forget about the bring-something-to-put-on-the-grill BBQ/campfires held every Saturday night. Some of the gang even quaff a couple of glasses of kool-aid (yea right!) on those evenings. Too cold... Heck we just move the festivities into the shed & keep on goin'.
Soar Truckee staffers are some of the most experienced pilots in the country with a combined total of several hundred years under their seatbelts.
