The Silent Challenge is a new award, which is tested this year in northern California with particular attention to the gliding sites of Truckee and Williams. Please find description of the award in the Rationales and Rules . The awards are granted after completing tasks called Straight Line, Triangle, and Quadrilateral, of increasing handicapped length (100, 200, 300 km etc.). See Examples of different shapes of Triangles and Quadrilaterals. To make the tasks achievable in the highest possible number of gliding sites, the shapes of the Triangles and Quadrilaterals are governed by formulas that make the width increasingly smaller in proportion to the length. See for example the minimum dimensions possible for tasks from 50 to 500 km , and from 600 to 1,000 km. A Spreadsheet is available to calculate handicapped lengths and heights for the various tasks.
